May 12th: I will check out of the Hilton Garden Inn on the morning of May 12th, then catch a 2.5 hour train from Bucharest, RO to Brasov, RO. From Brasov, I will take a 25-minute taxi to Bran, RO.

Climate: Bucharest's climate in May displays temperatures from low 50s to mid 70s. Throughout the day, it feels mildly cool with light winds and a humidity of around 60%. The chance of rain in May is around 25-27%.

Culture: Bucharest's culture is steeped in folklore and tradition. Over 54% of the Romanian population lives in urbanized areas like Bucharest, and cities have been steadily growing over the past few decades. Customs and stories from Romania connect back to pre-Christian times, with witches, giants, ghosts, spirits, fairies, and many more, being the subject of many folk tales. Nowadays, some of those tales are seen more as cultural superstitions, but they are still passed down through generations. The ethnic composition within Bucharest is quite homgenous, and a majority of residents are ethnic Romanians and ethnic Hungarians. Romania has a rough history of ethnic inequality, social exclusion, and prejudice against minorities (especially against the Roma people). Despite this, younger generations are becoming more accepting and aligned with Western and European ideas about inclusivity, so travelers can hope that Romania will continue to become a more accepting destination for its inhabitants.
